Cone Beam CT (CBCT)

"quickly and confidently progress with treatment"

CT scans are a necessity in the diagnosis of certain dental conditions. Conventional CT machines work by gathering numerous slices of information and collating all of this information together to create one image. This results in small gaps of information between each collated image.

The 3D CBCT scanner has the abilty to gather information all at once due to a cone shaped X-ray beam. This results in very accurate, clear and full images of the treatment area.

With patient care at the forefront of every dentists' mind, the innovative 3D CBCT scanner is set to have a bright future in the dentistry world.

The CBCT also emits a lower dosage of radiation when compared with conventional CT machines. The entire process is efficient and convenient - the scan takes just a number of minutes. The scan is completely non-invasive putting all patients at ease. These scans can assist dentists in a number of ways including:

- Implant planning

- Detailed visualisation of

abnormal teeth

- Evaluation of the jaw and

face

- Cleft palate assessment

- Diagnosis of dental caries

- Endodontic diagnosis

- Diagnosis of dental

trauma

Dr. Jennifer Kearney, one of the specialists at Citygate Dental commented on how effective the scans have been in assisting with treatment plans, "...a number of dentists have referred patients here for a CBCT scan and have been delighted with how quickly and confidently they could progr

progress with treatment."
