Overall Rating And Perceptions Of Arlington
In terms of quality of life, about eight out of ten Arlington residents (81%) rate the city
moderately high as a place to live. Compared to last year, the overall rating of Arlington
offering a “good” or “excellent” quality of life has increased significantly from 74%
(rebounding to the 2010 level, 82%).
Citizens generally perceive the City of Arlington positively. Specifically, the city is
perceived very highly for its cultural diversity (85% “strongly” or “somewhat agree”),
various housing options (82%), and financial stability (77%). Continually, the top three
most-cited reasons for living in Arlington are Arlington’s location (56%), convenience
(46%), and affordable housing and property taxes (35%).
Compared to last year, perceptions of the city’s finance and business environment
appear to be significantly improved, such as “Is financially stable,” “Is a great place to
work,” and “Is a great place to operate a business.”
Consistently, most Arlington residents feel that the city is headed in the right direction
(72%); say they would recommend Arlington to others (78%); and say they intend to
continue residing in Arlington (74%).
