AEF008:- 13/10/2015 15:30 Page 1 King Edward’s High School for Girls, top Midlands school... King Edward VI High School for Girls, Edgbaston is celebrating an outstanding year of achievement – academic, artistic, sporting and scientific. This summer it achieved its best GCSE results for over a decade, topping the league table of Midlands schools with 92% of all exams graded A* or A. Proving that KEHS is not just an academic powerhouse, Alice Coward, 16, from Kings Norton, an England junior netball international and talented trumpeter, achieved a string of A*s despite a gruelling schedule of matches and training sessions. The school’s A level results were also excellent: a 100% pass rate with 87% of all subjects achieving A* - B grades and a string of brilliant individual performances. Multi-talented Ellen Miller from Solihull, 18, scored one of the top sets of A level results in the country with 6 A*s, securing her a coveted place to read Natural Sciences at Jesus College, Cambridge. No wonder the Sunday Times named KEHS as the top Midlands Open Days school, while the Good Schools’ Guide has just selected it among Britain’s ‘Ten of the Best’ independent schools for academic excellence and value for money. The only West Midlands school on the list, it was praised for its outstanding results, liberal, inclusive atmosphere and generous financial help to ensure the school is accessible to bright girls, irrespective of parental income. “Of course we’re proud of our wonderful results,” said KEHS Principal Ann Clark, “but we’re about far more than just stellar grades, league table success and top university places. It’s important to us to capture our students’ imaginations and stimulate their intellectual curiosity in a friendly, caring environment, so that they discover their particular passions. Our brilliant girls are tomorrow’s leaders and we help them develop the drive and confidence to aim high. I’d like to invite anyone interested in finding out more to come and see what makes us unique.” Saturday 16th January 2016 9.45am - 12.00 noon Closing date for applications Monday 18th January 2016.
