Season ’ s Greetings ,
Tis ’ the season for some fantastic Laguna Niguel festivities ! The Parks & Recreation department invites Laguna Niguel patrons to partake in some wonderful holiday events , programs , and classes this winter .
The full schedule of events includes the annual Christmas Tree Lighting , Holiday Lights Decorating Contest , Chanukah Wonderland , and the biggest community event of the year , the Holiday Parade !
Have a New Year ’ s resolution about a healthier lifestyle ? Avoid the large fees as well as the long lines and take a hike ! Laguna Niguel is home to 80 miles of scenic trails , and some good old vitamin D does wonders . Benefit from more healthful activities by registering for the Laguna Niguel Triathlon & 5K , MLB Pitch Hit & Run , and Aquatics fitness classes .
The Crown Valley Park pool is open throughout the winter season to facilitate a healthier you ! For more information on the pool schedule , lessons , and water play check out the aquatics section of the brochure . Since you ’ ve been so nice , jolly old Saint Nicholas will be making an appearance on December 7 .
The Skatepark offers a Winter Break “ Mini ” Skate Camp for improving skating skills while on the holiday recess . The Skatepark also provides customized birthday packages for those winter birthdays that need to get their shred on . Check out the Skatepark page for more information about lessons and programs .
Sea Country offers daily activities that will fill your enrichment needs . Join the fun at the festive Mingle & Jingle Holiday Party , Trader Joe ’ s Cooking Demonstration , Valentine ’ s Day Celebration Brunch and Bunco Blast Parties .

Tobi Thomas
Recreation Supervisor
Tobi ’ s love of recreation began during her college education . She took a recreation class involving a high elements ropes course , white water rafting , and an overnight backpacking trip . After taking this class , Tobi decided to change her major from Marketing to Recreation Administration and Leisure Studies , with an emphasis in Commercial Recreation . While in college , Tobi worked as a camp counselor for Lake Mission Viejo Association ’ s summer day camp programs . Before her 1997 graduation from Fresno State University , she had to complete an internship located in Florida at Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club . Upon returning to California , her fulltime recreation career began at Lake Mission Viejo and later for the City of Tustin .
Tobi has been with the City of Laguna Niguel since 2009 . In 2010 , she moved to the City Manager ’ s office as the City ’ s Community Liaison . Missing her recreation roots , Tobi moved back to the Parks and Recreation Department in 2015 as the Recreation Supervisor for Special Events .
Tobi plans , organizes , and facilitates the City ’ s Special Events from the Family Fun Nights and Summer Concerts to the annual Holiday Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting . She also supervises the staff that is responsible for the Recreation Brochure , contract classes , and instructors .
Tobi enjoys the myriad components of recreation , and loves that she can utilize her skill set at the City of Laguna Niguel . She gets to work with fun and exciting people as well as create programs and events that leave residents feeling happy and proud to live in such a beautiful City as Laguna Niguel !
Elizabeth Madrigal
Recreation Coordinator
Elizabeth Madrigal has just celebrated her one year anniversary working full time for the City and also her ten years of dedication to the field of Recreation . She graduated from the University of California , Irvine with a bachelor ’ s degree in Social Ecology as well as a minor in Education . Lizzy also received her Master of Arts degree in Education from Vanguard University . Recreation has always been a passion of hers , and she is excited about continuing her professional growth within the Parks and Recreation department .
Lizzy manages and oversees the Recreation Brochure , contract classes and instructors , and assists with special events . She began her City journey as a part-time Recreation Coordinator at the Sea Country Senior & Community Center where she assisted with the coordination of special events , programs , and activities . Prior to working in Laguna Niguel , Lizzy worked for the City of Tustin where she created the Recreation Brochure , helped plan summer camps , after school enrichment programs , and special events .
Lizzy feels incredibly thankful to not only have a job that she loves but also a surrounding of bright and uplifting coworkers . She is looking forward to the onset of the winter season and all the wonderful events that Parks and Recreation will offer . Lizzy encourages Laguna Niguel patrons to register for a class , volunteer , or simply grab a friend and check out some LN Parks and Rec events this winter .
