A Message From Parks and Recreation Dear Neighbors, As summer is quickly approaching, we invite you to connect with the endless opportunities available through the Parks and Recreation Department. The Department’s primary goal is to provide a wide variety of innovative, diverse and inclusive recreational and cultural opportunities which enhance the quality of life for residents of Laguna Niguel. As a member of the California Park and Recreation Society (CPRS), Laguna Niguel is proud to join other cities in a unified message that Parks Make Life Better! By bringing awareness and importance to Parks and Recreation, our Department aims to improve your quality of life. We offer a wide variety of classes, summer camps, special events and programs for participants of all ages. We provide access to special interest activities such as volunteering, adult excursions, summer concerts, skating boarding, BMX bike riding, swimming, diving or exploring the many hiking trails here in Laguna Niguel. Playfully, Laguna Niguel Parks and Recreation Department Staff Parks & Recreation Mission Statement Parks and Recreation Showcase Alison Giglio Parks and Recreation Director When some people think about Parks and Recreation, the first thing that may come to mind is a TV show, but for others it’s about fun activities, sports, hiking, biking, trails, parks, swimming, skateboarding, senior activities, teen programs, the list goes on. Well, your City’s Parks and Recreation Department provides all that and more! Under the direction of Alison Giglio, the New Parks and Recreation Director, the Department is responsible for the planning and administration of all City recreation programs and activities. Alison was hired in August 2001 as a Coordinator at the Sea Country Senior and Community Center. Prior to her being hired in 2001, she worked for the City of Brea Senior Center and coached high school cross country. She was promoted to Supervisor of the City’s Special Events and Contract Classes in September 2003. Her devotion, dedication and knowledge of recreation lead her to her new role as Director of Parks and Recreation in November 2014. Alison is a native Southern Californian who enjoys waterskiing, camping, sports and is a diehard Angels fan with her husband of 13 years and two children. Alison, along with her devoted and well- trained staff, are committed to providing a wide variety of innovative, diverse and inclusive recreational and cultural opportunities to the community. She feels “it is a privilege to work in a beautiful community with the BEST people, parks, facilities and programs!
