Water series kicks off in Vero classroom
Fifth-graders at Vero Beach Elementary School just started their elective class which focuses on different aspects of water . Their goal is to create a water-related project for their science fair , but first they must gather the educational resources to learn more about it . In August , Utility Marketing Coordinator Jenny Tomes kicked off a series of three lessons starting with an introduction to water . The kids compared and contrasted fresh and salt water . They walked through the water cycle . And they even made water molecule models from recycled materials . In September , Jenny will teach them about water filtration , where students will make their own water filters . The series will end in October with a lesson on water distribution , plus water conservation and how to protect our freshwater resources .
