Two more episodes of PSL Living available , with a focus on education
The PSL Living team of Melissa Yunas , Maureen Kenyon , Avi Monina and Matt Dutiel filmed two more episodes for August and both videos are now available .
Episode 3 of the new and improved PSL Living highlights the Career & Technical Education program in St . Lucie Public Schools . CTE is open to all St . Lucie County high school students and helps them gain the technical skills , rigorous academic foundation & realworld experience for post-secondary education and a high-skill , high-wage , high-demand career . Students earn industry-recognized certifications and college credits , too .
Maureen Kenyon discusses the program with its director Aliesha Seitz and Lorika Chery , a senior studying aerospace technologies in the CTE program at Fort Pierce Central High School .
Episode 4 focuses on school safety . Avi Monina chats with Port St . Lucie Police Sgt . Keith Bohan about the department ' s School Resource Officer ( SRO ) program , and Melissa Yunas talks about safety tips with SRO Amanda McCarty , a sworn police officer , who mentors and assists students at Treasure Coast High School .
SROs are educators , informal counselors and law enforcement officers , who are part of the schools in which they serve . At each school , the SRO becomes a dependable , appreciated member of the administration who students look to for advice , support and safety .
PSLPD ’ s successful SRO program focuses on building healthy relationships between law enforcement and members of the school district to benefit individual students and the greater community .
