COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

1.

SURVEYS AND NAMING CAMPAIGNS
Citizens play a meaningful role in Port St. Lucie – and the City wants to ensure residents are a part of discussions, decisionmaking and the implementation of projects and programs affecting them.
Multiple naming campaigns were launched last year as part of the City’ s efforts to involve residents in the making of history-- including the naming of Port St. Lucie’ s future riverfront park and the ongoing campaign that carves out identities for 27 neighborhoods through the NICE program.
The City also has worked with St. Lucie County Public Schools to further assess youth leisure needs within the community. Parks & Recreation surveys were created to gather the needs and wants of the younger generation with the objective of being a champion for Port St. Lucie’ s youth.
PSL’ S FUTURE RIVERFRONT PARK NAMING CAMPAIGN
The plans for the City’ s new riverfront park feature all the elements of a showcase project: Waterfront dining, a children’ s play area, historical structures, boardwalk, access for boaters, amphitheater, connection to conservation land and canoe launch.
PARKS & REC YOUTH LEISURE NEEDS SURVEY
Port St. Lucie surveyed 879 residents between the ages of 13 and 20 to better assess the needs and wants of the youth in the community. PSL aims to be a champion for the younger generation.
