CITY LIFE MAGAZINE N.18
PLDC 2015 Roma, report
Last October in Rome the
most important exhibition/
event about lighting and
smart lighting took place.
All over the world lighting
professionals met in numbers
of round tables, a large group
of selected companies shown
their new products and latest
technologies on market, and
the 5-10 years trend.
The lighting culture get out
from the practice, from
schools and companies,
compare and discuss itself,
creating relationship with the
surrounding world: the south
American lighting culture
shown its colored projects,
Italian designers narrate
their detail research, Dutch
the Human Centric Lighting
possibilities. Different nations,
different sensibilities with a
precise and common aim:
tell the light. PLDC wasn’t
only round tables or market,
it was open discussion
between professionals and
companies, location was
perfect, the Ergife Hotel with
its great covered court, its
comfortable armchairs, it
reminds the ancient Greek
Agora, where was very
easy met and discuss with
masters. As observer, the
perception I’ve had was
a lively relationship and
comparison activity, sitting
aside lighting designer,
listening and learning
something new. The PLDC
“solution” is winning, the
exchange of ideas was
real, active, the hybrid
created by Joachim Ritter is
certainly the best discussion
platform for all the lighting
designers. Ideally every
lighting starts from the
same point, the light, but
they find personal, different
and unique solutions.
Working days common
ground was the mutual
and personal knowledge
between companies; to know
personally their colleagues,
just seen and appreciated
on shiny pages of the
magazines, has a different
taste. As journalist, these
working days are the best
opportunity for hearing
stories about the projects,
narrated with passion, and
discovering new technologies
and which there will be the
next 5-10 years.
PLDC wasn’t just work, it
was also the togetherness
pleasure, united by the same
passion, PLDC was also
having a coffee or a lunch
sharing ideas, projects and
visions. Such as the Gala
Dinner, that took place in
the evocative and dreamy
Cinecittà atmosphere, an
event in the event that
had allowed unusual and
unexpected synergies.
We were welcomed in
in an ancient Roman for
a, columns and domus
enlighten softly, immediately
creating a perfect
atmosphere convivial, almost
informal. The Gala Dinner
