THE LEED CERTIFICATION IS NOT ONLY A MATTER OF TECHNOLOGY BUT ALSO
SOCIAL, WOULD YOU LIKE TO EXPLAIN THIS ASPECT?
Sustainability is based on the balance between social, economic and
environmental angle. If we want obtain a socially equitable building we should
search the best solutions for everyone involved in the construction or renovation
building process: the owner, the residents, the manager and the maintainers,
the design team and, the surrounding community members as unwitting
beneficiaries of a neighborhood amended by the building construction.
The design strategies and actions that have a positive impact on these subjects
are numerous and diverse, for example open and recreational spaces for
socialization or facilitate a sustainable mobility.
In the preliminary design the builders often have a narrowed perspective, and
they doesn’t grab all the correlations and opportunities for the surrounding
community. It’s important to consider the new building positive externalities and
inform designers about the influence that some choices they do on urban scale.
