Girls across various age groups shared their aspirations along with the things they most like about being a Girl Scout . Kelly Perry , a local Cadette , said “ My favorite thing about being a Girl Scout is learning leadership skills and being able to be independent , to figure out new things with friends and meet new people .”
Overall , the girls had a good time at YMCA Camp Wewa , a camp that works in collaboration with Girl Scouts of Citrus . YMCA staff members helped to coordinate activities and provided guidance at the rifle range and challenge course . “ Partnering with other organizations allows us to share experiences and provide more opportunities to our girls . The Central Florida area is full of organizations and people who make it possible ,” said Barry . “ We ’ re fortunate to have great supporters throughout the community .”
Saying she wants to one day study veterinary medicine , fellow Cadette and first-time camper , Shakera Gelin , was enjoying the opportunity to make new friends while trying different activities such as shooting targets at the BB rifle range .
