Message from Girl Scouts of Citrus
Hello Citrus Family ,
The past three years have offered tremendous challenges to our Girl Scout families , our community , and indeed our nation . There have been hurdles to overcome on all fronts . While the end may not be in sight , the horizon does look brighter every day .
Citrus Council was able to complete a major project during this time , with the construction of the Women ’ s History & Cultural Center , which we look to unveil to the public this year . The completion of this project signifies a major point in the history of this council and our Central Florida community . It is the first and only museum celebrating the contributions of women throughout history in the Southeast of the United States . It is also fitting that it resides within Girl Scouts as the next generation of female leaders can get inspired to make history themselves .
Our girls are living through history in these unprecedented times . From these experiences they are learning and adapting to the change for the better . In true Girl Scout fashion , we see girls who are finding creative ways to help strengthen their community . They have balanced their lives to virtual and in-person experiences . It is truly amazing to witness their development ; all of which would not be possible if not for the support and dedication of our volunteer community - role models in every sense of the word .
We witnessed volunteers hold multiple roles to ensure the Girl Scout experience continued in their area . Our local business community came out to support our movement through donations and purchasing the surplus of Girl Scout cookies last year .
While we are all living through uncertain times , the future is bright so long as we continue to support each other and continue to encourage our young ladies in their endeavors .
