Citrus College Near Space Balloon Project 2013-2014 Volume 1

The Citrus College students were aware of the Registered Dental Assisting Program on campus and contacted Dora Arredondo to see if she was able to assist the students. The assistance proved to be a great resource to the team. It allowed the team to use their dark room and develop a sample key of different amount of radiation absorption on dental films. The dental film sent up in the high-altitude balloon was then compared to the sample key to determine the amount of radiation it had absorbed. The accessibility of dental film was possible through a gracious donor from IQS in Ontario. Tom Mullen of IQS, donated unexposed films for the team to use to send up in the balloon.
