So it is undeniable that his protest played a larger role in his rejection from the NFL as a tactic to quiet him and other potential protestors. Due to the importance of Kaepernick’s protest and sacrifice, it is imperative that more prominent voices in the NFL and in other sports continue the protest Kaepernick started, and many other individuals (black, white, brown) need to show their support to these protesting athletes. Let the blackballed and “silencing” of Kaepernick cause a snowball effect that will be an impetus for the solution of the black and brown plight in America. Like the Haitian revolution leader, Toussaint L’Ouverture, said when he was kidnapped and about to be exiled by the French:
Similarly, Kaepernick protest is a unifying call to many black players in the NFL and other athletes across the country to stand and protest against some of the issues black and brown people have been facing, including implicit threats from white supremacists and neo-nazis like we recently witnessed in Charlottesville. It is probably not a coincidence that the possible prerequisite for Kaepernick to get re-signed in the NFL is to cease his peaceful protest.
The main argument against Kaepernick not playing in the NFL in the aftermath of the protest is because of his arguably average QB skills but players with sub par QB skill sets were able to get a job before him.
"They have only felled the trunk of the tree (of the freedom of the blacks); branches will sprout, for the roots are numerous and deep."
