Section 1: Written Report
Imagine you are the information technology specialist at your organization. The CIO has asked
you to give a presentation to a select group of managers from different departments on
business intelligence (BI). He suggested that you start by writing a report that would address
the basics and bring the managers to the point of understanding the need for business
intelligence. Considering the fact that the managers will be technical and nontechnical, you
decide to take the CIO’s advice. In your report, start with the basics and conclude with a
compare and contrast analysis of two (2) BI solutions.
Write a three to five (3-5) page paper in which you:
Examine and explain the relationship between data, information, and knowledge.
Define “strategic information” and explain its relationship to a data warehouse.
Explain the role of decision support systems (DSS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and
business Intelligence (BI) as they relate to strategic decision-making within an organization.
Using the Internet, identify two (2) BI providers; then, compare and contrast the software
capabilities.
Use at least three (3) quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites
do not qualify as quality resources.
