BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN RAILWAY OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
Who is it for?
Your relevant experience may include a basic understanding of railway operations, knowledge of the railway industry, general understanding of customer services, or basic understanding of safety.
Requirements for Study
Applicants would be looking to hold a level 5 qualification( Diploma of Higher Education, Higher National Diploma). Alternatively, students might be able to gain entry via the RPL system( see page 29). This is a 2-year programme.
How does it work?
This is a work-based learning course that we deliver with our academic partner, Glasgow Caledonian University. It is comprised of 5 modules which are delivered over 6 terms. Each module begins with a classroom-based tutorial. You are then assigned a subject tutor for each module who will support, guide and mentor you through the content.

All of these modules utilise CIRO’ s core library, where the specific content covers specialist topics such as Railway Systems, Operational Planning, Safety Law and Management, Railway Economics and Managing the Railway Business.

Delivery: Hybrid- Classroom based tutorials delivered in a hybrid format, allowing learners to join remotely if they wish.
There are 5 tutorial days held over the two-year Degree. Please note attendance at these is mandatory.
