Beer time y’all! I guess my
new move has to give up the
southern drawl and get with my
southwestern lifestyle. Let’s try
again. Howdy partners! Ready
to belly up for some sarsaparilla?
While I’m not yet in cowboy boots
and spurs, I am still in touch with
my Vermont beers. Luck for me;
I got a delivery.
First on the list… One of my
all-time favorites; The Shed
Brewery IPA. I can’t have a tall
cold draught, but I do possess a
bottle and for that I shall covet it.
But I’m willing to share it with
you. So find one, crack it and
lets begin this beer drinkers October! Shed fans know already that
this beer comes from the old
Stowe legend, now brewed at
Otter Creek and put out by their
friends at Long Trail. I’m pouring
it into my LT pint glass, also a gift
and WOW does it flood my memory bank with treasures!

Here comes my nose, ready to relive it… Surprisingly, the nose isn’t
what delivers in this beer. It’s
faint, subtle and deceiving to the
quality about to be delivered.
Head retention went too fast too.
Am I about to be let down? I
doubt it. Let’s drink.
Sediments in the bottom of
the glass are awesome! Unfiltered beer with just a classic IPA
taste, nothing forced on hops, not
IBU’s through the roof, just
straight up balance and integrity
that performs. I do love this beer.
Bias, maybe, but it’s hands down
light citrus, mostly lemon, malty infused (but only a little) and a finish
that stays for a minute maybe…
until you grab the glass for another sip.
Speaking of Long Trail…
Let’s dive in to their Pumpkin for
October, shall we? It pours a
moderate-hazy orange. And the
fragrance is reminiscent of my old
home. Let’s see how she
tastes. Rich in spices and
a balance of pumpkin and
a good ol’ Long Trail
taste… Nicely done! If I
had one or two or three of
these they’d be gone before I finished writing this
sentence.
UFO from Harpoon
put out unfiltered pumpkin
ale.
It tastes like the pulp scooped out
and the guts were laid out in a glass
only better. They infused the correct amount of cinnamon and nutmeg to make this autumn treat an
easy go to for your October taste
buds. It has a sudsy feel in the
mouth and the finish rounds out the
pumpkin flavor and residual spices.
It’s not a homerun, but works well
for a chilly October night or a crisp,
fall day.
