At The Heart Of It To donate proceeds from debut EP release F or this local band, At the Heart of It, everything is art. Hailing from Manchester, NH, At the Heart of It is a post-hardcore/screamo band, and they are currently celebrating the release of their brand new debut self-titled EP this March - and donating proceeds to an LGBTQ organization. The band has committed to donate 10% of all preorders and record sales of their EP to the Greater Boston PFLAG, a non-profit organization that offers help for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning (LGBTQ) youth, their families, and communities around the topics of sexual orientation and gender identity. The most important influence in their songwriting is their general belief in human equality, community within music, and their drive to create art that will inspire and positively impact the lives of the people that it touches. They also champion the belief that music is a tool for social awareness and inciting change, and a means to open the lines of communication with their listeners. At the Heart of It, as a band collectively, believes that music is not a static form of art, but an ever-changing, constantly evolving dialogue that is only understood completely in a live setting. Clocking in at just over 28 minutes, their six song, self-produced, self-released, and self-titled EP is a very dynamic, complex, and emotionally jarring record. Keeping so much in house, the band was able to turn what is typicalMarch• 2015 ly a band’s first defining moment, their first release, into something much more monumental. Written as a concept record, with each song delving into one of the five stages of grief, along with the first sounds of moving on (Past is Prologue), this is by far a very introspective effort, from a band with broader extrospective goals. Preorders are now available at www.attheheartofit.net. Bed and breakfast lodging near Flying Monkey Performance Center and Silver Center for the Arts in Plymouth, NH.
