Cider readers ask, “What should we plan to for?”
Glad you asked! Bring good happy vibes and
friends/family. Everyone knows, bring pillow,
blanket, tent, right? Upgrade and borrow an EZup
or a canopy, and 4-5 tarps. You’ll thank me in July.
What else? Extra clothes and blankets, you can
never have enough. A camera, sunscreen, WATER,
WATER, WATER! Toss in a frisbee, hula hoop
and tambourine and you’re styling. Lastly there
are two things that I see as a vital part of Jerry
Jam’s success: 1) Bring trash bags, plenty. Yes,
volunteers will go around, but we all should do our
part. Finally, I’ve never used this, but have many
friends who do, pick a flag, banner, something
unique to help mark your site. It’s an old festie
trick.
One of Jerry Jam’s mantras is, “Kind minds and
good vibes” so as far as rules, I’d like to refer to
them as J.J etiquette. More of a moral road, if you
will. It’s pretty cut and dry. (For those first timers,
here’s a few quick, “No-no’s”)

*No violence. Period, *No pets, *No weapons
(see #1), *No open fires, though gas grills are ok.
Jerry Jam is a B.Y.O.B event, so NO underage
boozing. (Any federal laws apply, even in this
utopia). Lastly, don’t bring a stinky attitude. No
one likes a whiner. Be mindful of your “neighbors”.
Other than that, be free. Just don’t infringe on
one’s different experience.
The Van Burens are one of New England’s beloved acts, and have been a staple act at Jerry Jam
for quite some time now. May kicks off “Festival/
Concert Season” and it’s a very hectic time of year
for many bands. ‘Papa Bear’, drummer for The Van
Burens is no exception, as their own funky, harmonic, and comedic brand of music is in very high
demand. Papa Bear still took the time to answer
a few quick questions for us at Cider about their
history with Jerry Jam. (Interview on next page.)
