SONGWRITER’ S CONTINUED FROM PAGE 9
But it’ s very, very true. And not just for Tony, but for all four musicians. These guys seem to be far more excited to be working with each other and playing someone else’ s music than they are concerned with showcasing their own. In fact, each of them seems to think that the songs they will bring to the table will be the least entertaining and challenging of the night compared to their counterparts.
To find four musicians with such perfect outlooks on what a music scene should be about is special in itself. There is a candid unselfishness that fills the room with a heavier and cleaner smoke than the cigars Joey just passed around, or the laughter that ensues when each tells a witty story. An unselfish musician is satisfying; a group of unselfish musicians is genius.
The best thing about these four souls is they are 100 % focused on the story. This is not a Joey show, or a Rick show, or a Bow or Tony show. This is a songwriter’ s show. It doesn’ t matter who wrote it, how it’ s usually played, or why. This night is about interpretation, expression and appreciation. It’ s not about a party, or a night out drinking with some cool live music. This night is about listening. It’ s about words, and thoughts, and emotions. This is the kind of night that can move you to tears, or break your belly in laughter. You have the incredibly rare chance to feel every range of emotions through the art of four very interesting and provocative story tellers. This is one of those, Once in a Blue Moon, moments. Or is it?
“ There is a chance of seeing this grow, expand,” said Joey.“ You never know what’ s going to come out after this. What kind of show it will be or what kind of response it will receive. I’ m just excited to be a part of it and to take the stage with such incredible guys. It truly is humbling.” Over the course of a couple hours, we will hear original works by each participant played as a group, and a couple songs by each entertainer solo, as well. The best comes last, when the four present a song written together and will perform it for the first time.“ This is a show about song writing, why not challenge ourselves and discover something new,” said Bow.“ It will be very cool to see what our four minds can come up with.” No matter what may come out of this show, Joey and the boys have accomplished something much bigger than just throwing a concert. They stimulate ideas, inspire creativity and challenge each other in a friendly, yet daring manner. It is safe to say that even with so many years of knowledge and experience between them, they will all come out better musicians and songwriter’ s at the end, because inspiration begins with new ideas, and this may be one of the best new ideas we’ ve seen yet.
