But it’s very, very true. And not just for Tony, but for all four musicians. These guys seem to be far more excited to be working with each other and playing someone else’s music than they are concerned with showcasing their own. In fact, each of them seems to think that the songs they will bring to the table will be the least entertaining and challenging of the night compared to their counterparts. To find four musicians with such perfect outlooks on what a music scene should be about is special in itself. There is a candid unselfishness that fills the room with a heavier and cleaner smoke than the cigars Joey just passed around, or the laughter that ensues when each tells a witty story. An unselfish musician is satisfying; a group of unselfish musicians is genius. The best thing about these four souls is they are 100% focused on the story. This is not a Joey show, or a Rick show, or a Bow or Tony show. This is a songwriter’s show. It doesn’t matter who wrote it, how it’s usually played, or why. This night is about interpretation, expression and appreciation. It’s not about a party, or a night out drinking with some cool live music. This night is about listening.
