Korean barbeque is having a moment in Winnipeg— and Gogi Kitchen is turning up the heat. The Alberta-born brand is planting its first Manitoba location on Pembina Highway, bringing the all-you-can-eat tabletop grilling experience along with it. Beef, pork and chicken hit the grill for one flat fee, where diners get to do the cooking and, presumably, the debating over when that next round of meat should arrive. Beyond the smoky, grill-kissed proteins, the menu branches into Korean favourites including soups, spring rolls and shrimp. Come hungry; the table is doing double duty as both stove and serving platter.

cool street, cold beer

Two of Winnipeg’ s favourite craft breweries have almost simultaneously set up shop on south Osborne Street, adding a double dose of cool to a neighbourhood that has been steadily finding its groove. Nonsuch has taken the Morley corner at 551 Osborne, while Good Neighbour has opened its Cold Beer Shop just south at 683 Osborne. Both offer Fort Rougers and passersby cold beer and the requisite cool merch— caps, tees and bags— and both are working on taproom additions that will turn their retail stops into social hangouts. Two breweries on one strip? Consider it another sign that South Osborne has found its cool.
