lastcourse autumn’ s flame
A Golden Morning In A Golden Morning, Heather Gillespie brings together evergreen trees and a brilliant red tamarack beside the peaceful waters of a Manitoba lake. Inspired by the vivid colour of autumn trees and the uplifting feeling of being among them, Gillespie blends observation with imagination to create a landscape that is vibrant rather than strictly realistic. Layering colour and glazes, she captures the serenity of the water, the magnificence of the sky and the joyful energy she finds in Manitoba’ s forests.
Heather Gillespie
Winnipeg artist Heather Gillespie is a Signature Member of the Manitoba Society of Artists and a member of the Shop Art Manitoba Collective. Her fascination with vivid colour began in childhood, sparked by her father’ s early colour photographs of trees. She works primarily in acrylic for its immediacy and quick-drying nature, often moving between several paintings at once. Gillespie spends summers at Clear Lake and in the Whiteshell, close to the lakes and forests that inspire her work. Her paintings can be found at Frescolio and seasonally at Poor Michaels Emporium in Onanole.
