• Jan 21 – Mar 21 : Bold displays of light are set to illuminate Winnipeg ’ s historic Exchange District during winter ’ s darkest months at Lights on the Exchange . This interactive winter arts festival brightens the neighbourhood with glimmers and flickers on brick and terracotta buildings , storefronts , rooftops and alleyways , creating an outdoor , walkable gallery in many forms . This second annual initiative is sparked by a diverse

History meets culture , fun and feasting at the 55th annual Festival du Voyageur , Feb 16 – 25 : Costumed interpreters at Fort Gibraltar recreate life for the voyageurs who worked as North-West Company fur traders . Sample Francophone treats like maple taffy , tortiere and sugar pie , see snow sculptures designed by teams around the world and warm up in heated tents while local musicians play live . Kids ’ activities and late night concerts please everyone . During Festival ’ s pea soup competition on February 25th , chefs across the city are challenged to create a winning recipe of the Canadian staple .
