ootpik, the barn owl, is part of“ The Vanishing North,” a series combining mixed-media painting with traditional Swiss papercutting. Drawing inspiration from Canadian wildlife, especially her fascination with owls, Anja highlights the urgency of protecting vulnerable species. Her intricate papercuts use graphic and geometric patterns that gradually dissolve into fine lines, symbolizing how animals risk fading from our world and becoming memories of the past. Her work raises awareness and inspires action to safeguard these creatures from extinction. Find it at Pulse Gallery.
