The inspiration for this holiday sipper was Guzman Riestra, a new import dry Spanish cider. This complex libation is a light spin on holiday flavour, blending the cider with apple brandy, cardamom, and a complementary hit of herby chartreuse. If Yellow Chartreuse isn't available, 3 parts Green Chartreuse mixed with 1 part honey will suffice in a pinch. INGREDIENTS 1 green cardamom pod 2/3 oz Calvados 2/3 oz Cachaca 1/4 oz Yellow Chartreuse 1/2 oz simple syrup* 1 oz lemon juice 2 oz Guzman Riestra sidra natural 1 slice Granny Smith apple METHOD 1. Gently muddle cardamom pod in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. The pod should be broken open, but the seeds not ground to powder. 2. Add all other ingredients. Fill shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish rim with a slice of Granny Smith apple.
