folklorama fan

How long have you and your sister been performing at Folklorama? We started when we were little girls modelling costumes. We’ ve been singing and dancing since the mid-70s.
What performers do you seek out during the festival? I see them all! We are a Folklorama family, so we go to every pavilion each year.
What is your favourite way of celebrating and preserving Ukrainian traditions? It would have to be through the holidays— Christmas and Easter. These are both very big!
Does your career as a performer affect your job as a music teacher? It opens doors to opportunities for my students. I have taken classes to sing the national anthem at Goldeyes and Moose games.
Where do you take outof-town visitors to show off the city? Folklorama if they are here in August! We love taking them to our great multicultural restaurants... Also The Forks and Assiniboine Park to see the Leo Mol Sculpture garden.
What is your favourite comfort food? Pizza— and pancit, a Filipino noodle dish we make all the time.
What is your favourite Manitoba ingredient you use at home? I make salad dressing using local honey a friend produces.
Coffee or wine? I don’ t drink anything with caffeine. I like sweet white wine.

Pizza or perogies? Pizza, but we always serve perogies and cabbage rolls for our guests.
Sandals or boots? Sandals. My sister would wear boots.
