In the Lab
At UCSD interaction with industry is fostered and encouraged. The UCSD testing facility is partnered with many
major technology companies, and all of the research is being done with input from these relationships. Optics is
a very promising research field, and integrated photonic devices are constantly being developed to augment and
enhance the performance of electronic devices. The CIAN UCSD testing facility has done research on a broad array
of practical applications, including network architecture, improved component design, and exploring device
physics. The facility is an advanced engineering research laboratory and all research is pursued with important
applications in sight.
Additionally, as an open-use facility, the CIAN UCSD testing facility test equipment is available to industry upon
request. The Chip-scale Photonics Testing Facility at UCSD collaborates directly with industry partners on research
projects.
