EXAMPLE... SPITSBERGEN, SVALBARD (ARCTIC CIRCLE)
Set high in the Arctic Ocean, the Svalbard archipelago is Europe’s
northernmost outpost. This is an extreme and thrilling wilderness: a beautiful,
complex and fragile ecosystem on the very edges of civilisation. Winter and
Spring can be ideal times to explore by ski, snowmobile or dog sled (and
a husky team experience is truly unforgettable). Summer in the land of the
midnight sun means you can explore day or night, by boat safari, kayaking,
hiking, or dog sled. Autumn brings darkness between mid-November and
the end of January and also brings the spectacular Northern Lights. A range
of eco-friendly and other accommodation and excursions is available and
