A New Morning & A New Beginning
by Jim Hill, Special Assistant to the Director
Our Spring Gathering was a special time as we explored a fresh new morning! I have had the wonderful privilege and honor of serving as Executive Director for Churchnet for the past 13 years. Obviously, when I began we were still conducting our ministry as the Baptist General Convention of Missouri. Our transition over the years has been significantly more than a mere name change. It has included finding a clear focus on serving churches. It has been thinking about denominational life in new ways and discovering new approaches to our ministry. Our Vision 2020 strategic plan allowed us to once again focus on churches and how we can most effectively serve them. The four initiatives we identified grew directly out of our conversations with local congregational leaders.
FACILITATE MISSIONAL COLLABORATION means we facilitate genuine collaboration between congregations and among church leaders for support, encouragement, resource sharing, learning opportunities, and joint projects.
DEVELOP HOPE-FILLED STRATEGIES means we assist congregations as they seek God’s will and shape a positive future for ministry.
ENGAGE NEW GENERATIONS & CULTURES means we help congregations
understand, build relationships,
and share the gospel with new
generations and cultures.
EXPAND COMMUNITY
INVOLVEMENT means we help
congregations understand and
engage the issues confronting
people in their communities.

challenges confronting
congregations today. I also believe
Churchnet is focused on serving
churches as they seek to address
these challenges. I am incredibly
grateful for the privilege I have had
to serve this organization or
network. I could not be more
