Other Responses to Cuba Action

Baptist News Global reported on Baptist responses to President Donald Trump's new restrictions on travel to Cuba. The article quotes from Churchnet's response (printed on the previous pages). It also quotes other Baptist leaders. Here are a couple of the responses included in that article.

Rubén Ortiz, Latino field coordinator for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship: "The reasons for supporting the embargo and hostile practices are now obsolete. ... We will continue opening spaces of reconciliation and building bridges for the healing of our nations."

Idael Montero Pacheco, co-pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Marianao, Cuba: "The crosshairs of the policy are aimed at the Cuban government, but the shot, as usually happens, strikes the Cuban people in the foot."
