Enjoyed the Annual Gathering
by Bob Perry, Congregational Health Team Leader
The 2015 Annual Gathering of Churchnet was a great experience. I really enjoyed the emphasis on peace and justice. Brian Kaylor’s message was outstanding and challenging. I also really enjoyed the worship led by the pastor and choir of Second Baptist in Jefferson City. Jim Hill presented the new strategy developed for Churchnet, and it was a very creative approach to denominational service
to churches in the 21st Century. Some excellent thinking went in to its
development.

Reflections from Annual Gathering
by Forestal Lawton, Vice President
The recent Annual Gathering in Jefferson City addressed many of the issues currently affecting our Society. In this day and time, we need prophetic voices addressing these conditions. The opening address (sermon) by Dr. Kaylor set the tone for the weekend. The workshops I attended on Saturday continued this endeavor and gave some historical perspectives. As I recall the incidents in Ferguson and more recent incidents in South Carolina and Baltimore, I think Churchnet's approach to "Share
Hope" is on target. I also
appreciated the opportunity to
include the Baptist World Alliance
Men's World Day of Prayer in the
program. It again lets us know we
are not isolated but intricately
connected to the world.
