Membership and Organization
The Church of Satan distinguishes registered members from active members. Active
members, who are involved in the cult's activities on a daily basis, may climb the structural
ladder divided into five degrees. One must apply for the first degree; the rest of the stages are
all invitational. Priesthood comprises members of the third to fifth degrees, who are addressed
as “Reverends.” Members on the top of this hierarchy may be called “Doctors,” but the
