enforced strict laws against the crime. The Pakistan Penal Code requires a minimum of a 10 year imprisonment however, a loophole allows the family of the victim to forgive the perpetrator. Honor killing has been a subject ignored by media is Pakistan and India because laws that were created against honor killings are not being taken seriously throughout the countries.

Some men use religion to justify their gruesome actions. Islam does not justify honor killings. Infact Islam does not justify any crime. For the men that use islam to justify the murder, all I would say is that Islam has no historical background for honor killing. In the Quran it says, "Whoever kills a believer intentionally, their reward will be Hell, to abide therein forever, and the wrath and the curse of Allah are upon them, and a dreadful penalty is prepared for them." (Holy Quran, Chapter 4, Verse 93). A reason for honor killing can be ignorance. In many cases those who commit honor crimes are ignorant of islam and are unaware of the teachings of the Quran. These people often confuse local customs with traditions of Islam. These are the men who commit crimes out of anger, outrage and loss of honor and then try to justify themselves by using religion.

Farzana Parveen had a life awaiting her. She had so many dreams for her child. But that child never got a chance to come into the world. That innocent life was taken away with it’s mother for something that was not her fault. Love doesn’t knock on the door before entering a person’s life. What did Farzana do that she was stoned to death? She fell in love. Is love a crime? Honor killing is not acceptable nor is it justified under any circumstances. Murder is never honor. Murder can never bring back honor. Murder is murder and there is no justification for it.
