CHRONICLE Asian Girl Conquers Wales | Page 21

Wales welcomed me with a wicked freeze, wintry breeze and endless rain shower. In this late winter, the weather had been as predicted. For the first few weeks, I could not cope with the weather. The bitter cold always find its way to seep through my gloves, numbing my fingers until they feel thick and stiff. Cold breeze stings my nose, turning it red and somehow make me feel like snot running down my nose when it’ s not. My feet always feel damp. My dry winter skin itches and peeled off by itself.
I caught cold and fever for three times within my first two weeks in Wales. Ah the agony when I’ m breathing in feels like my lungs filled with sharp cold and frost. The weather changes throughout the day. One minute it overflowed with generous sunshine and warmth. The next it was dark, brooding, resisting the sun. At other times it was just indecisive, flirting with ideas of cold and warmth, freezing fog or a just touch of light mist. Sometimes at night I hear the wind howled accompanied by heavy rains. Once, the snow came visit just for a night. When I woke up in the morning, there’ s thin layer of ice gently blankets the sidewalks and grass.
