C
armarthen is located on the outskirts of
Wales and located between Swansea and
Lampeter. The town itself is small but
sufficient for everything that you need. Being
in the town alone, I am able to discover many
landmarks. Statues and castles were just within
footsteps away. Carmarthen; literal for ‘Merlin’s
fort’, is historically known as Merlin’s birthplace.
Carmarthen has lots of narrow winding street, as
complex as the heart. The streets are paved with
dark stone, and the people are the blood. The
buildings in Carmarthen are an amazing jum-
ble of different styles; wooden shops, marble and
brick houses, and huge stones churches. One of
the oldest church here is St. Peters Church cen-
trally located in the heart of the town. There are
also little remains of the original medieval Car-
marthen Castle at Nott Square. I like how the
town maintained some of the medieval sites yet
it combines modern structure as well through
development of shopping walk and cinema.
A wide variety of shops lined the streets; antique
and arts, jewelry and accessory shops, luxury
boutiques, souvenir kiosks, restaurants and café,
supermarkets and convenient store, all showcas-
ing an array of options for people in Carmarthen.
Popular stores like Marks and Spencer, Deben-
hams, Topshop and H&M are also available here.
The slurps of coffee and crunch of people eating
at café will be the consistent sound that let you
know the town is alive. Caffé Nero is the main at-
traction in town which serves delicious coffee, hot
chocolates and variety of cakes. This is the place
where you can hang out and talk with friends for
hours or simply just indulge in good old coffee.
