nVent launched
in India as an
independent traded
company

ne of world’s leading electrical

nounced its launch in India as an
independent, publicly traded com-
pany. The organisation is a spin-off
of Pentair plc, a multinational
diversified industrial company.
nVent has a leading portfolio of
electrical enclosures, electric heat
tracing solutions, complete heat
management systems, and electri-
cal and fastening solutions that
connect and protect critical sys-
tems across the globe where the
cost of failure is high. Its innovative
electrical solutions help maximise
customer efficiency, improve utili-
sation, lower installation costs as
well as the total cost of ownership
and minimise downtime.

business divided into three seg-
ments – centres on six well-estab-

The enclosures segment is a
leading global provider of elec-
trical and electronics protection
products and services. Marketed
under the nVent Hoffman and
nVent Schroff brands, nVent
enclosures offer two-pronged
protection: safeguarding electri-
cal equipment from the operat-
ing environment and people
from electrical hazards. The
nVent Hoffman brand includes
steel, stainless steel and non-
metallic enclosures, modular
enclosure solutions, and indus-

India’s first green building rating
system for hill habitats released
T
he 16th Green Building Congress
2018, India’s premier green buildings
event organised by the Indian Green Build-
ing Council (IGBC), opened with a curtain
raiser session and the launch of India’s
first ‘Green Building Rating System for
Hills’ by Ajay Mishra, IAS, special chief sec-
retary, energy, environment, forest, science
& tech dept, Government of Telangana.
The new IGBC rating is intended for hill
cities, differentiating the sustainability
needs of urban development in hills as
compared to cities in the plains. Other rat-
ing systems that would be launched during
the Green Building Congress 2018 include
the IGBC Net Zero Energy Buildings
(NZEB) and IGBC Green Resorts rating
system. This would take the total number
of rating systems launched by IGBC to 25.
Besides Ajay Mishra, the curtain
raiser was conducted in the presence
of V Suresh, chairman, Indian Green
Building Council (IGBC); Anil Kumar Epur,
former chairman, CII-Southern Region and
C Shekhar Reddy, chairman, IGBC Hydera-
bad. The curtain raiser also featured an
awards ceremony where Hyderabad’s
famous Botanical Gardens was recognised
with an IGBC Gold rating (Green Land-
scape rating). Some of the green features incorporated in the garden include 80
per cent green cover, on-site solar panels
catering to 50 per cent of annual energy
consumption, and a centre for biodiversity
awareness.
The event will continue on November 1
with the Green Building Congress inaugu-
ral, which will be addressed by Hardeep
Singh Puri, minister of state (independent
charge), ministry of housing and urban
affairs, Government of India.
Key speakers at the Congress will
include Lisa Bate, chair of the board, World
Green Building Council; Tai Lee Siang,
immediate past chair, World Green Build-
ing Council; Raymond Rufino, chairman,
Philippine Green Building Council; Gaur
Gopal Das Prabhu, renowned motivational
speaker and life coach, ISKCON; and Jaxay
Shah, national president, Confederation of
Real Estate Developers of India.
The Green Building Congress 2018 is
a vital forum to propel India to achieve a
10 billion sq.ft. green building target by
2022 and showcase innovative building
products, materials and technologies. The
event returns to Hyderabad after four
years, and will focus on green homes,
green affordable housing, healthcare,
green and smart cities.
