Of late, the millennium city is becom- ing an entertainment hub of this part of the world apart from being a leading financial and industrial centre with the third-highest per capita income in India. With a number of multiplexes, pubs, restaurants, cinema halls, discotheques and shopping malls inundating the city, entertainment in Gurugram can surely make one ecstatic. Anuj Puri, chairman, Anarock Property Consultants, is of the view that the satu- ration of malls in the city is remarkable, and today’s top-performing shopping malls are essentially mixed-use busi- nesses which incorporate a plethora of entertainment options. “Gurugram’s evo- lution in terms of entertainment options has been necessitated not only by its high saturation of office buildings but also the rapid proliferation of housing. Gurugram saw the launch of nearly 1,150 units in Q2 2018 and a 20 per cent Q-o-Q rise in housing sales. One of the main drivers for residential growth is availability of social infrastructure such as shopping and entertainment,” says Puri. Gurugram is now the most premium city of NCR which has evolved with time and has attracted premium housing in the city. Its strengths include ‘connectiv- ity’ to the airport and nearby office hubs and residential sectors. Spending here is comparatively much lower than Delhi and other parts of the NCR with better facilities. “Gurugram had its first big transition from an agricultural society to a BPO hub in the late 90s. The proximity of the city to the administration government offices of Delhi and the international airport is connected to the capital of India that made easy to commute for multinational companies to set up their regional corpo- rate headquarters in Gurugram. This city has developed manifolds in these years. In addition to the world’s best-class infrastructure, this city also offers a wide range of places to visit and adventurous things to do. Options for fun & hangout, leisure, adventure and many things to do and entice visitors are not limited to the Gurugram’s residents only but also to other corners of India as well,” asserts Rajan Dang, founder, Zvesta, platform to buy, rent and sell properties in India. As a natural corollary to the recovery in the residential sector, entertainment facilities including retail units are show- ing marked growth in Gurugram. “Many leading developers in the millennium city are coming up with mixed-use projects as well as pure-play entertainment and “Our partnership and signup at Athena Mall by Brahma Center Development Pvt. Ltd. is an integral part of our expansion plans in the millennium city. Located at Sector 16 along the Delhi-Gurugram expressway, this retail and commercial space is spread across 1.3 million sq.ft., and is excellent in terms of location, size and scale. ” Gautam Dutta , CEO, PVR Cinemas leisure-based products. Interestingly, developers are also rolling out several attractive schemes such as assured rental returns during ‘before possession’ phases followed by lease guarantee and lease as- sistance during ‘post possession’ phases. Such attractive schemes are attracting investments into retail, entertainment and leisure products.” states Ankit Kansal, founder and managing director, 360 Realtors. With several content and social media start-ups that have come up in the city, entrepreneurs and executives take an active part in cycling, trekking and meditation groups or in general meet-ups where entrepreneurs or small business owners seek help from each other. There are also several angel investors as well as incubators helping and encouraging entertainment at the city. Multiplexes in this part of the world are fast evolving with a variety of enter- tainment options on offer. The cinema business has always been intertwined with hospitality, and today’s time and era pose a great potential in blending enter- tainment with high-end hospitality. “Our partnership and signup at Athena Mall by Brahma Center Development Pvt Ltd. is an integral part of our expansion plans in the millennium city of Gurugram. Located at Sector 16 along the Delhi-Gurugram expressway, this retail and commercial space is spread across 1.3 million sq.ft., and is excellent in terms of location, size and scale. Inclusive of two gold class, six mainstream and one imax screen, we are proud to introduce the exclusive nine screen multiplex in the city,” says Gautam Dutta, CEO, PVR Cinemas. Spread across five levels with an area of 65,000 sq.ft. and two additional basement levels for parking, the state- of-the-art clubhouse in Sobha’s Interna- tional City along Dwarka Expressway is a beautifully crafted social sanctuary. High quality business centres has been witnessing increasing demand. Be it funded start-ups or MNCs, they all have now moved towards premium business centres which are young and also suffice all the need.” The future of the entertainment sector in Gurugram seems to be promising, considering the growth of the market, advanced technologies aiding operations, urbanisation, floating population and favourable government policies.
