Here , experts help you dress up your home this Diwali with latest styles , patterns , techniques and trends .
“ Home decor , besides being a mode of personal expression is also deeply influenced by the time we live in . It completely depends on the kind or colours , textures and material one uses up to redo the space ,” explains Parushni Aggarwal , founder & creative director , StudioCreo .
INVEST IN A STATEMENT RUG Be it a bright Chevron rollup or a Kashmiri silk carpet , rugs and carpets are the ultimate decorative accessory ; it gives warmth and personality to a space .

Reupholstering , or choosing chairs that also complement the rug can bring the theme of room together . And since winter is also not far behind , the rug will go perfectly well with the season .
LAYER THE CURTAINS This is the easiest and quickest makeover for your space . “ Go for sheer curtains that will complement your existing lot and slide them over the first set . It makes your room look layered , stylish and much more cohesive ,” advises Yamini Yogya , a Delhi-based designer .
For a DIY ( do it yourself ), you can pick up some chiffon or georgette cloth and transform it into pretty sheers !
METALLIC HUES In a barrage of colours there rises a need to add some texture . Introducing some metallic hints help in breaking the monotony and help in adding a bit of lustre to the entire theme . Copper shades are perfect if you ’ re not looking to go for something as bold as gold . Copper also helps give that ethnic flavour to your room .
When it comes to the festive season , nothing can beat silver gold and metallic hues . This luxe hue is the colour of sophistication , opulence success and achievement so go ahead and use it across your home .
“ Replace the regular cushion covers with the metallic ones , get a gold or brass vase or replace your wooden nesting tables with a set of sleek glass and gold ones and pull out a gold textured table runner for your dining area ,” suggests Parushni Aggarwal .
GO FOR SHEER CURTAINS THAT WILL COMPLEMENT YOUR EXISTING LOT AND SLIDE THEM OVER THE FIRST SET . IT MAKES YOUR ROOM LOOK LAYERED , STYLISH AND MUCH MORE COHESIVE .
When it comes to fabrics ; silks , brocades and velvet rule the roost . You can always add a base colour like beige or grey to neutralise the effect , however , when it comes to Diwali , vibrant is the way to go ! A little mixing and matching and a little experimentation is all it takes to find your perfect look . Try playing with all the elements of your room and don ’ t forget to throw in some colours .
