A Look at Lightborn: Dawn of Darkness

by Daniel & Hernu Maritz
Excerpted from the book’ s introductory material:
Authors’ Note The events of this story are set in the world before the global flood, in a time when humanity did not yet possess the written Scriptures or the full revelation we have today. The people of that age interpreted what they witnessed through the limits of their understanding, shaped by what they saw, heard, and believed to be true. We don’ t fully know the extent to which God revealed certain truths to them.
Lightborn: Dawn of Darkness is a work of historical fiction inspired by the biblical account. While it seeks to remain faithful to Scripture, it includes content about imagined characters, dialogue, and events on which the Bible is silent. This is not Scripture. The Bible alone is the inspired and final authority, and readers are encouraged to test all things against it.
Preface In a time long forgotten, when the echoes of ancient tales still lingered, the world was a canvas painted with strange creatures— ancient dragons, humans whose lifespans stretched over many centuries, and flora that whispered secrets in the language of leaves. They found their existence under the light of day and the dark of night— a symbolic battleground depicting the true nature of this mysterious world, a perpetual struggle between the forces of light and darkness. Humans carved their existence amidst the harsh landscapes of primal beasts.
Survival safe camps unfolded as humanity learned to live protected among the Behemoth’ s roar and the Leviathan’ s dominance. Yet, the most dangerous creature in this age wasn’ t a dragon, but mankind itself. The real darkness lurked within the hearts of men.
In the primordial lineage, Adam and Eve, shaped from the dust and filled with the breath of Il, eked out a fragile existence. From their endurance, lineages flourished— building cities and villages in defiance of nature’ s ferocity.
Adam and Eve’ s lineage, marked by light and darkness, unfolded a saga of wanderers and cities across all the lands of the ancient world.
A great evil is about to descend upon humanity— fallen gods called the anunnaki, with a dark mission: to birth through females the Ašag-dingir, mighty beings that cast long shadows over the age. Alongside this, we embark on the odyssey of Uldako.
Born a slave, Uldako’ s journey begins in the depths of suffering and oppression, but his heart burns with an unyielding desire for freedom. Rescued by the descendants of Adam, Uldako’ s path intersects with ancient prophecies and celestial beings as he seeks to uncover deeper truths about life, his heritage, and the cosmic struggle between light and darkness. His quest will take him through treacherous landscapes, confrontations with monstrous creatures, and the battle against the inner darkness that threatens to consume mankind.
Along the way, unexpected companions will rise, some wild, some wise, and one whose presence will awaken a depth in Uldako he never knew he carried.
Join Uldako in this epic adventure, where the past and myth intertwine and the fate of humanity rests in the balance. This is a tale of courage, redemption, and the eternal fight against the shadows that seek to engulf the world.
An epic tale of adventure where ancient history and myth intertwine— where the war between the sons of Light and the lords of shadow shapes the destiny of humanity. Paperback $ 24.99
