Short Kut : So the movie ... The first question is this : Fiction or based on a true story ? Pastor Stokes : No , the movie is not based on a true story , it ’ s based on characters from the song “ Life is Pricele $$”. Short Kut : Where did you come up with the characters ? Do their names have Blibical references ? Pastor Stokes : Yeah , the characters do have biblical names but the problems they are face with aren ’ t from the bible necessarily . Short Kut : What are the characters names ? Pastor Stokes : Mike Young is the main character and he just found out about FREE WILL . His Nana is deeply rooted in church and has a great relationship with Jesus Christ and she just wants the same for Mike . She would like her grandson to learn about the love of God but Mike has other plans . Mike works in the mall for a locally owned clothing store . One might think he ’ d have the best of clothes but with his mother strung out on drugs and his home life in such turmoil , he can barely afford the clothes he buys from the Goodwill . With his straight A ’ s and great personality you would think his life outside of school didn ’ t bother him but that is far from the truth . His friends Dave and Peter have started to notice changes in Mike ’ s attitude and they are trying hard to understand his new take on life . Seems that Mike has found out he has a long lost brother on his father side of the family
Thaddeus Jackson . That name is notorious in the streets and is associated with The Crooked I Cartel . Thad as his close frienemies call him , so eagerly wants his little brother to come and join the family business , he decided to take over from their now deceased father Michael Thaddeus Young Sr . Mike is starting to associate money with power and respect . The school BULLY James Franklin is also the star player on the basketball team . He thinks he should be the most popular in school especially compared to the low life loser Mike . Mike ’ s love interest is the most beautiful girl in the school Bathsheba Williams . Sheba suffers from alcoholism but no one knows it . Not even her best friend and cousin Tamar Williams . Tamar is so focused on cute boys and her love for nice things , she doesn ’ t realize that not only is her boyfriend Thad too old for her but their re-lationship might cost her her life . Short Kut : Wow , that ’ s a mouthful . So are all of these characters interacting at the same time ? Pastor Stokes : Yes , because they all attend the same school . No , because they have separate lives . Sort of like that movie , Crash . Short Kut : Okay , I remember Crash . Last question , how do you plan on promoting and building a buzz ? Pastor Stokes : By implementing the Life is Pricele $$ Talent search ( June 8th , 2013 ), CD ’ s , ChristlikeTV , Christlike Radio , etc .
