The Witch Trials

In the Christian beliefs, they believe in Heaven and Hell, where the good and the bad are separated in the afterlife. God rules over the good in heaven, and the Devil rules over Hell where evil resides. Catholics participated in witch hunts for a couple thousand years, for they

believed that witches

were evil beings who got

their powers from Satan.

For that reason they believed

that the witches needed to

leave the world of the living.

The beginnings of the Witch Hunts was near the sixteenth century, at this time the Witch trials took place mostly in Europe. The Catholic Church were the main participants of the Witch Hunts. People at this time believed that witches got their powers from worshipping the devil. Once the fear of witches got started, people started blaming them for everything:

sickness, death, floods, and

the people would blame

someone that was alone,

outside of town, a ‘hermit’

per say. When a ‘witch’

was caught they were burned

or hung.By the end of the

witch-huntings 60,000 people were killed.
