KEVIN MAX with melodies. I then sing to those melodies and start writing lyrics. The one thing I need to do is update my studio - at this moment it's an upright piano & an old Casio synth. CR: On March 10 you released a new album, "Broken Temples". How did you come up with the title? KM: I came up with the title after thinking about an interesting way to describe an imperfect Christian. CR: Can you elaborate on some of the themes/messages behind the songs? KM: The overarching theme of the album is definitely redemption. It's also relying on God to define the journey that we are all on. Faith is the key, and an unflinching belief that God understands us to the core. Songs like 'Just As I Am, Infinite, Clear & Light Me Up' all talk about the need for guidance. CR: If you can pick one, what is your favorite track from your new album? KM: Probably 'That was Then & This Is Now'.... It feels like a trip through the 1980's...memories of school, life and learning about myself. CR: Aside from your music career, you are also an author of graphic novels and poetry. Could you tell me a little bit about your most recent work, "Fiefdom of Angels"? KM: It's a story about the angelic race before the creation of the Earth. Obviously it's a bit of science fiction/fantasy, as we don't know specific details. I've elaborated quite a bit, and have taken some literary freedoms in describing what I think might have happened. The research is there if you dig however, in compelling works like The Book of Enoch, etc. It was always mind blowing to me that no one has ever really created a novel on the fall of Lucifer & the events leading up to it. CR: Last but not least, rumors have been circulating for years that there will one day be a dc Talk reunion. Is there any chance of that happening in the near future? KM: There's always a chance... And I think the longer time passes the less interested people will be. So I for one think it's necessary & would be a lot of fun. *** READ OUR REVIEW OF KEVIN MAX’S LATEST ALBUM “BROKEN TEMPLES” CHRISTIANREVIEW.COM > 75
