MUSIC Check out the article on The WorshipMob REVIEW ecently I have been hearing a lot about WorshipMob. In fact, we have an article about them in this very issue! R Artist: WORSHIP MOB Album: CARRY THE FIRE Rating: Genre: Worship For Fans Of: Hillsong United, Passion, Jeff Deyo Label: Integrity Music Reviewed by: Christian St John Release Date: Out Now few times I have to say that I now actually like the way the album begins - the slower paced songs help to clear my mind and help me focus on God. Founded by Sean Muillholland and Garrett Chynoweth, WorshipMob originally began as a gathering of two worship teams with the specific goals of encouraging creativity, edifying through scripture and encouraging one another to lead from the heart. The group soon grew to include over 80 people from 80 churches. As one would expect from a group of worship leaders, the musicians featured on this album have chops. There are various instruments played including the typical weapons of any worship team , namely drums, bass, synth and keys, piano, and acoustic and electric guitars. But if you listen closely you might just hear a few instruments that don’t typically make it into worship songs. As well, the multi layered vocals are impressive. On top of this, WorshipMob have a Youtube channel that has had over 8 million views on their songs - both original and cover - and Carry the Fire is a response to this as this album is basically compilation of 12 of their most popular tunes to date. Upon first listening to Carry the Fire I have to admit I found it a little bit of a letdown. The cover promises loud in-your-face worship. But album begins with “Satisfy”, a slower worship track. And this slower pace continues on through album’s second track, “Our Father Has Won.” These two tracks are great songs, but it’s not until track three, “Arrested By Grace”, that things begin to pick up. Stand out tracks include “Our Father Has Won”, “Arrested By Grace”, “Downpour”, and an excellent cover of “Oceans/Nothing But the Blood”. There are a couple of weaker songs on Carry the Fire, but as a whole this is a great album. The musicians and singers are passionate about God, something that comes through loud and clear. Bottom line: Carry the Fire is a refreshing, passionate, and authentic work of worship that truly made me want to join in and praise the King of Heaven!
