mong The Thirsty is a Christian
band originally hailing from the
Tampa Bay Florida area. Formed
back in 2004, the band was was started by
two high school friends. In 2007, Among
the Thirsty released their debut album
Homeward Bound following it up in 2010
with their sophomore release, Wonder.
Who You Say I Am is the band's third full
length album and their first with a major
label.
“Maybe it’s a father working
through the long night / Maybe
it’s a mother trying to raise
her kids right / Maybe it’s a
prayer on a long drive home /
Maybe it’s a soldier fighting on
the front line / Maybe it’s a
preacher laying down his own
life / Maybe when you gave
your Son to die / That’s what
love looks like.”
These powerful words are taken from the
opening track “What Love Looks Like”
from the incredible new album Who You
Say I Am by Among the Thirsty. Beautifully
played piano and guitar driven music serves
as a backdrop for the wonderfully written
lyrics that act as a clarion call for true
worshippers to walk out their faith with
confidence, assured in the knowledge that
God loves them and is right there by their
side.
Who You Say I Am is a breathtaking release.
Musically this is not the most original or
elaborately played album, but what it lacks
in those areas it certainly makes up in
others. Among the Thirsty’s songs exude
passion and reverence for God, and are
filled with devotion and worship,
encouraging and inspiring the listener to
move forward in their journey, loving God
as they go.
Soundwise, Among the Thirsty deliver CCM
with pop laden hooks for an end sound that
more than remindsedme of bands like
Mercy Me
