MUSIC REVIEW 2015 is the 20th anniversary of Heath’s decision to accept Jesus Artist: BRANDON HEATH Album: NO TURNING BACK Rating: A well regarded CCM/worship artist, Brandon Heath has released four full length studio albums, as well as a Christmas album and several EP’s. 2015 marks the release of No Turning Back, Heath’s fifth studio release, and it’s an album that contains some of his best work to date. Genre: CCM, Worship For Fans Of: Chris August, Matthew West Label: Reunion Reviewed by: Leah St John Release Date: Out Now Ever since Brandon Heath markedly made his entrance into the Christian music industry with his debut album, Don’t Get Comfortable (2006), his music has become commonplace in the CCM scene, with many of his songs finding their way onto the play lists of more than a few Christian radio stations. No Turning Back is his latest offering, an 11 track album produced by Ed Cash (Chris Tomlin, Starfield, Bebo Norman, Stephen Curtis Chapman). It’s quite a varied album and certainly doesn’t stick to just one sound. But it’s nice to hear Brandon Heath branching from his usual sound. There are some singer-songwriter tracks, anthemic moments, worship tunes, a melodic piano driven ballad, and even a love song. A bit of mix for sure, but saying that, it all comes together quite nicely. And lyrically, No Turning Back comes across as Brandon Heath’s most personal release to date. Throughout the course of the album, Heath sings about love, teen angst, his faith journey, salvation, and boldly declares his faith. Another great release from Brandon Heath, No Turning Back will resonate with Heath followers and worship fans alike. CHRISTIANREVIEW.COM > 57
