FEATURED FILMMAKERS FRED AND SHARON WILHARM On December 8, 1990 a communications major with a desire to make movies married a schoolteacher with a passion for writing and directing drama. In 2009 God opened the door for them to combine their abilities and desires and create a faith-based feature film. It was to be the first of many. Since then Fred and Sharon Wilharm have produced five faith-based films and are currently at work on their sixth. The Wilharms have come a long way from their earliest filmmaking efforts. Their first film dragged with slow moving, on the nose dialogue. They eliminated that problem when they found their film niche – dialogue free films. The Good Book, the story of a small Bible that is passed along to fourteen strangers, impacting the lives of seven of those individuals, is told using only dramatic action and a dynamic soundtrack. It's similar in style to a narrative music video. While the general public was 14 > CHRISTIAN REVIEW MAGAZINE hesitant at first, not sure what to expect, the response has been overwhelmingly positive. So far, the movie has garnered numerous film festival accolades including “Best Inspirational Film” at Holywood Christian Film Festival, “Best Feature” and “Best Female Director” at GloryReelz Christian Film Festival and was nominated for the prestigious “Best Mission” Stellae Award at Pan Pacific Film Festival in Los Angeles. It's also received favorable reviews including a 5 Dove review from Dove Foundation and a high review from Movieguide. It aired on Parables TV, Net TV, and International Christian Family Network and has been used as an evangelism tool by international missionaries and missions groups around the world. The Good Book is being released to stores nationwide on February 2, 2015. Now the Wilharms are hard at work on Providence, their latest redemptive movie.
