e Are Leo are an up-and-coming electronic pop-rock band.
Fightback Soundtrack is their
sophomore release, following their 2012
release, Hello Again.
As a group they have notably evolved and
matured since previous release. Whereas
We Are Leo had a pop-rock sound often
paired with electronic/dance beats on Hello
Again, they have now morphed into a fully
fledged electronic pop-rock band. And I
dare-say that this newly defined sound
works well for them.
We Are Leo are not your typical electronic
pop band. While the music is essentially
synth driven, the addition of the up front
electric guitars (guitar solos anyone?!) and
percussion within their music further define
them from other electronic pop bands out
there. Musically, Fightback Soundtrack is
full of fun, energetic tracks complete with
contagious and upbeat pop hooks that one
wouldn't be ashamed to dance to. But this
release also offers some softer, synth/keydriven moments too.
This release also has more lyrical depth
than on Hello Again. While they are still
catchy and well written, they give glory to
the Creator and are reflective of His love for
us.
Fightback Soundtrack is a standout album in
the current Christian music scene. And at
this point in time, I can think of few bands
that have the same electronic pop-rock
ambiance as We Are Leo.
We Are Leo have so much potential, as
demonstrated on this release. They have
come a long way since their previous
album, and I hope we continue to see them
mature and further hone their talents, and
sound, on future releases.
