List highlights or significant accomplishments of this Christian
Service Initiative for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Outstanding student leadership, highlighted by consistent e-mail communication.
Active student participation in monthly meals and prayer.
Consistent adult presence (Ms. Kathy Betz, Mrs. Amy Carroll, Mrs. Marygin Gladstone,
Mr. Ed. Nolan, Mr. Liem Nguyen, Mrs. Diana Pavlik).
L’Arche core members look forward to monthly visits of Saint Ignatius students.
Prayer creates and celebrates community.
Students are encouraged to reflect on their participation in Friends with L’Arche, prior to
and after house visits.
Simple musical instruments were purchased to enhance community celebrations.
Monthly meals provided for each L’Arche house, about 50 meals each month.
Creation of teams of students for each house meant to contribute to the development of
relationships.
In-service meetings at school prior to home visits to develop a greater sense of spirit and
mission.
List of birthdays and community anniversaries of core members and assistants
distributed.
Welcomed L’Arche community to Saint Ignatius for evening of food and prayer in
September.
L’Arche puzzle created and assembled to mark relationship between L’Arche and Saint
Ignatius.
Christmas Food Baskets delivered to each of the L’Arche Cleveland homes.
Visual images of year’s progress shared with each house (May 2014 prayer).

Prayer and reflection as part of formation before monthly visits; various types of prayer
with each monthly visit to homes; student leaders shared one week in the Gonzaga
Society

Development of new student leaders
Send birthday cards/L’Arche anniversary cards/consolation cards (projecting
dates ahead of time) to core members and assistants
Better record keeping each month (i.e. using an attendance spread sheet) for
attendance and reflection responses
Welcome L’Arche Cleveland to Saint Ignatius for Mass and a Meal 2015
Consult with L’Arche to limit participation to students from Saint Ignatius (not
JCU)
