Christian Action Team Report 3 Dear Reader, We are most happy to present the 2013-2014 annual report of the Christian Action Team of Saint Ignatius High School (C.A.T.). C.A.T. coordinates the extra-curricular Christian Service Initiatives of our school, engaging students and adult companions in opportunities for Christian Service. C.A.T. hopes to further the mission of the Church and the Society of Jesus by practicing the Works of Mercy. This year’s programs have involved nearly 800 students in 21 Christian Service Initiatives for a total of more than 14,000 hours of service in our community. This report summarizes the activities and contributions of the students involved. In addition to the Christian Service Initiatives under her aegis this year, C.A.T. has taken on responsibility for the Alumni Discernment and Volunteer and the Jesuit Volunteer programs. The young adult volunteers have served the programs of C.A.T. with distinction and are invaluable assets to the Christian service initiatives of the school. More than 40 adult companions/moderators accompany students in prayer, action, and reflection across the Christian Service curriculum. In addition, the four C.A.T. moderators meet for 90 minutes weekly to ensure the vision and quality of the Christian Service Initiatives. These meetings shape the course of the year’s weekly C.A.T. Meetings, attended by 50 or more students. Key C.A.T. meetings include Christian Service Leadership Day in the Fall, Bring a Friend or Underclassman to C.A.T. in December, the State of the C.A.T. in February, and Senior Recognition Day in May. Weekly C.A.T. meetings seek to model the prayer, action, reflection, and evaluation model that is employed throughout Jesuit education. Thank you for reading this report.
